Is Raf Simons Confirmed at Calvin Klein?

To say that from the end of 2015 until now has been defined by fashion house shakeups would be an understatement, but the bigger question poised by so many designer departures (think Raf Simons from Dior, Hedi Slimane from Saint Laurent, Francisco Costa from Calvin Klein, and Alber Elbaz from Lanvin), is who will replace them. Bouchra Jarrar was positioned and confirmed fairly quickly as the woman to follow up Elbaz’s 14-year tenure at Lanvin, but Saint Laurent, Dior, and Calvin Klein are currently without creative leaders. Word on the rumor mill is fairly quiet when it comes to who will be stepping up at Saint Laurent and Dior, but for months, Raf Simons’ has been speculated as the sole candidate to take the reins at Calvin.
While there has been little hard evidence to substantiate these claims so far, WWD reports that CK’s founder—Mr. Calvin Klein himself—has hinted that an announcement might be made regarding the designer as soon as August. In an interview with Andy Cohen on Sirius XM radio yesterday, Klein said: “They just finally made changes in the design staff. They won’t announce who it is publicly because it’s under contract, but the whole industry knows.”
Admittedly, Klein is not specifically naming Simons as Costa’s successor, but time-wise it works. Raf’s non-compete with LVMH is said to expire at the end of July.
