Carine Loves: Little Joe Woman’s Black Slip

In this series “Carine Loves,” we report back on what our editor in chief is shopping for, so that you can keep up with her fashion radar in real time. For today’s installment, she’s selected the perfect, lace-trimmed, black slip dress from Little Joe Woman. The brand is the brainchild of former model Gail Elliot, who turned her hand to design in 2002 after she saw a hole in the market for elegant separates, crafted out of flattering fabrics.

This particular slip is cut on the bias for an easy fit and can be styled to be modest or revealing—mood dependent. If showing less skin is the main objective, layering a fitted top underneath is a quick trick for disguising décolletage, but Carine is likely to style it differently: perhaps sans bra, with a cinching waist belt, some black fishnets, and a pair of this season’s Gianvito Rossi heels.
