Politically Charged T-Shirts to Wear While You Vote

With the upcoming midterm elections on November 6, designers are once again using fashion to bring attention to politics. Moda Operandi has opened a trunk show featuring limited edition t-shirts from 13 designers to encourage people to exercise their right to vote. The total proceeds from each sale will benefit the nonpartisan nonprofit Rock the Vote, but this isn’t the first time fashion has engaged with politics in recent years. During the 2017 fashion cycle, Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia referenced Bernie Sanders‘ campaign logo, menswear label By Robert James‘ Fall/Winter 2017 presentation featured models holding picket signs reading „Refugees Welcome“ and „#BridgesNotWalls,“ and Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri made a feminist statement on the Spring/Summer 2017 catwalk.
