Last Week at the dinner for the Hugo Boss Art Prize—the biannual contemporary art achievement heralded by the fashion house and New York’s Guggenheim museum—artist Simone Leigh took home the title prize. With prize jurors, fashion designers, and up-and-comers situated inside the museum’s iconic rotunda, the actress Naomi Watts—a long time supporter of art foundations herself, whose interest in collecting began with a Bill Henson photograph—spoke to CR about two of her favorite pieces from her personal art archive.
“My favorite pieces are Harland Miller’s ‘Love, Stretch Me No Longer in This Rough World’ and Kim McCarty’s ‘Yellow Girl,’” says Watts. “The Harland Miller, because it is so vibrant in color. It’s message is both uplifting and profound at the same time. [While] McCarty’s has such a calming and ethereal feel to it.”
