WWD has broken the news that Chanel will show its new cruise collection on the 3rd of May in Paris. While specifics on the location have yet to be revealed, this is the closest Karl Lagerfeld has shown the collection to the French house’s headquarters since 2013, when the presentation was set in the gardens of Versailles. The decision to remain in Paris follows his takeover over of the Ritz Paris with the ‘Cosmopolite’ Métiers d’Art collection, solidifying the significance of the city to both Chanel and global fashion.
Prior to the scheduled return to France in 2017, Lagerfeld trotted the globe with his cruise collections over the past three years. Last year, the show headed for the beach in Havana, Cuba; in 2015, an exotic presentation was staged in Dubai, and before that, the collection landed in the east where Singapore was the choice of destination.END
