Tod’s presented Spring/Summer 2022 as a “message of freedom expressed through sartorial design and contemporary sophistication.” With its new Creative Director Walter Chiappoini, the collection is a refreshing new edition to a brand devoted to leather craft, where alternative materials are spotlighted such as linen and nylon, and leather is used in accent pockets and accessories — besides the occasional leather two-piece ensemble or LBD. Themes of crochet, utilitarian shirt dresses, feminine suiting, trenches, and windbreakers define the collection, in neutral and bold colors, from true purple, blue, green, and muted peach.
Chiapponi, who is said to design for the multifaceted woman, focused on comfortable knitwear this season, whether through boho fringe or chic sweater mini dresses that nod to the 1960s and 70s. The show took place at Padiglione D’Arte Contemporanea museum in Milan within the photography installation by Carlota Guerrero, a Barcelona-based female artist who celebrates divine womanhood in the exhibit.
