Erdem celebrated its 15 year anniversary with their Spring/Summer 2022 show at The British Museum in Bloomsbury, the West End district of London where designer Erdem Moralioglu resides. The collection is inspired two Bloomsbury women; poet Edith Sitwell and aristocrat Ottoline Morrell, both of whom made donations to the same museum in their time.

Both women transcended the 1930s with their style, as Sitwell wore medieval fashions and Morrell dressed within the Ewardian era. Moraglioglu’s collection brings their influence to the roaring 2020s in subtle silhouette references and wallpaper florals.

The show venue opened as the sky turned pink with a double rainbow that would blanket the event through the final look. Before the models stepped out, a recording of Sitwell reciting the 1953 poem “Astronomers and Gardeners” was heard in colonnade. “I thought there was something poetic about building something of the earth, but looking upwards,” Moralioglu said backstage.

The looks were dignified and glamorous, of glittering embellishments, romantic eyelet dresses, and pleated skirts, anchored with leather opera gloves and buckled loafers. Look 36 introduces a refreshing spring green sequin column dress detailed on the shoulders with stringy black bows that thread the collection.

The models wore their hair in extra long 60-inch braided ponytails by Larry King, with clean makeup by Jane Richardson, and styling by the incomparable Ib Kamara.
