Set at castellated hotel named the Mezzatorre, a historic villa once owned by Luschino Visconti, Max Mara’s big-ticket live show undoubtedly created more than a splash.
Inspired by Truman Capote’s travel book Local Color, the picturesque setting set of Ischia the stage for the Max Mara cruise 2022 collection; an iconic 101801 uncreasable jersey coat was worn over nothing else but a dress and adorned with strapped espadrilles. Just like that, viewers were perfectly cast away to a destination of their choosing. Accompanying the collection is a seven minute film production encapsulating the essence of the collection directed by Ginevra Elkann, granddaughter of Maria Agnelli who was one of Truman Capote’s swans.
Rather than simply using the luscious setting to draw a comparison to the brand’s highly crafted clothes, Max Mara went one step further—leaning into the history of the show’s location. A mid-century aura filled the entire show. From gathered skirting, frills on the back of jackets, and cashmere caftan, Max Mara blended timeless pieces with a sexy flare.
