Over the past few years, Dover Street Market Ginza has built quite the strong relationship with Raf Simons. Back in 2018, the designer established his own dedicated space within the shop on floor 4F.

On April 9, Dover Street Market Ginza will reveal the renewed space presented by Simons, which will be located in the same initial space as before. The overall design of this new retail space was due to the efforts of Belgian architect Glenn Sestig, who collaborated with Simons on the execution of this project. Simons was involved in every step of the design, thanks to his background in industrial and furniture design. The overall aesthetic of the new space can be described as somewhat of a crossover of the looks featured at Dover Street Market London and Los Angeles.

The inspiration behind the new space stems from concepts in brutalist architecture and historical sculptures. The raw duality of the space demonstrates Simons’ pure talent for bringing his ideas to light, including his goal of highlighting weathered feminine statues as a reaction to the popularity of shiny, chrome-like items in modern design.
