When it comes to summertime beauty, swimsuit models know better than anyone that high temperatures (and a very necessary dip in the pool or ocean) can easily wash off your face. Ahead, CR caught up with four of our favorite models (and Sports Illustrated alums) Barbara Palvin, Hannah Ferguson, Danielle Herrington, and Sailor Brinkley Cook, who revealed their best beauty hacks and essential tips for humidity-proof makeup that’ll stay put all summer long.

BARBARA PALVIN

On her go-to makeup look: “I don’t like to wear a lot of make up during summer but I love to use different products that look amazing and are good for my skin. Golden, shimmery, and natural—that’s my go-to look. For my eyes, I use the Armani La Mia Milano Palette because it’s the best for transforming a shimmery eye to a brown smoky eye for the evening. I’ll use Armani Fluid Sheer liquid highlighter on my cheek bones, the inner corner of my eyes, and on my cupid’s bow. For a final touch, I’ll put some lipstick or lip gloss on.”

On melt-proof makeup: “It’s a tricky thing to set your makeup when it’s boiling hot outside, but not impossible! During outdoor shoots or events, I use Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, which has a very natural dewy and nice finish. To set everything for the whole day, I would use the Armani Prima Make Up Fix.”

On her summertime beauty hack: “Less is more especially during summer. You have to use high-quality products that keep your skin happy and healthy! Set your face with a setting spray or powder so your make up will last for a longer time, and never forget to remove your makeup at the end of the day and clean your face really well!”

HANNAH FERGUSON

On her go-to makeup look: “I love natural light makeup to just enhance what I already have. To me, less is more! I use neutrals, light brown shadows, and highlighters. I always use black mascara to make my lashes stand out and then a natural lip liner with a touch of gloss.”

On melt-proof makeup: “I always carry my Tarte Amazonian clay finishing powder. It’s great for setting my makeup as well as keeping me from looking too shiny! I also use waterproof mascara so it never runs.”

On her summertime beauty hack: “I use a light tinted sunscreen on my face so no matter how hot it is outside, my skin is protected and not caky from a heavy base or foundation.”

SAILOR BRINKLEY COOK

On her go-to makeup look: “I rarely wear makeup in the summer because I’m constantly either jumping in the ocean or running around sweating. When I do put on some makeup during the summer, I always keep it simple and bronze-y. I put on some gold shadow on the eyes along with a couple swipes of waterproof mascara. I always love a good lip gloss (I especially love Glossier’s lip gloss) or a lipstick just a shade darker than the natural color of my lips.

On melt-proof makeup: “I never use foundation on my skin during the summer because I know it’ll melt off and will also be suffocating for my skin. I use only concealer on problem areas and keep it as light as possible. I always bring some tissues with me in my purse and some extra concealer just in case. Alcone Concealer is one of the best, most durable concealers ever. Also, waterproof mascara in the summertime is a go-to. My favorite brand is Maybelline.”

On her summertime beauty hack: “Sweating is inevitable when it’s 90 degrees outside and humid, so you have to avoid using products that will either sweat right off or make your skin uncomfortable. Keep the oily foundations away and stick to light, durable concealers. Make sure your eye makeup is water-resistant. Keep tissues and oil blotting pads in your purse and always bring along some extra makeup in case you need to touch something up!”

DANIELLE HERRINGTON

On her go-to makeup look: “My summer look takes five minutes. It’s super minimal: just a gorgeous moisturizer to achieve a natural sun kissed dewy glow and a dab of lip gloss at all times.”

On melt-proof makeup: “I really try not to wear much make up in the summer, but when I do, I use All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray by Urban Decay to keep it all in place. Another one of my favorite summer products is Glossier’s Perfecting Skin Tint. It’s super lightweight and helps to even out my skin with a beautiful glow to finish.

On her summertime beauty hack: “Blotting paper is in my bag at all times during summer. I do not leave the house without it.”
