Acne Studios’ Spring/Summer 2019 Campaign Features Russell Westbrook

Swedish ready-to-wear brand Acne Studios, known for its luxurious closet staples, teams up with basketball superstar Russell Westbrook in Acne Studios’ latest Spring/Summer 2019 campaign. Shot by acclaimed photographer Juergen Teller, the campaign focuses on the brand’s roots in denim, re-introducing the 1996 fit that Acne Studios initially launched over 20 years ago.

“Denim is how Acne Studios started, and it still fascinates me,” says Jonny Johansson, Creative Director of Acne Studios. “I’ve always wanted to work with. Juergen Teller, and so we asked Juergen to photograph our denim on American icon Russell Westbrook.”

In Westbrook’s first campaign with the brand, Teller shot the eight-time NBA All-Star playing basketball wearing Acne Studios denim in various locations around Oklahoma where he plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“I was already a huge fan of Acne Studios, so I was really excited when they asked me to be the face for their new campaign.” Westbrook says. “I really identify with Acne Studios because their aesthetic is very unique, and I like to be unique too.”
