Dior Reflects On Seven Decades Of Style

START

Dior has teamed up with Swedish illustrator Mats Gustafson to immortalize a range of its most iconic haute couture and ready-to-wear looks in a book. Published by Rizzoli, the new tome features illustrations of Dior over the past seven decades, including a graphic painting of Christian Dior’s original 1947 New Look and the first depictions of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s designs for the house. Of particular note, is a drawing of the Chiuri’s heart-emblemed, quilted vest and mesh visor look, which model Sara Dijkink wore on the Spring 2017 runway in Paris last September.

Fans of Gustafson’s work will instantly recognize the illustrator’s fluid and elegant style throughout the book’s pages. The artist employs a number of deceptively simple techniques, including finely veiled watercolor painting, cut-out paperwork, and softly smudged chalk pastels, to create a beautifully expressive final effect.
