Wardrobe fit for a Queen.
For Fall/Winter 2021, Creative Director Ian Griffiths paid homage to established house codes, while also referencing our favorite low-key style icon – Queen Elizabeth II. Celebrating its 70th anniversary, the brand transformed its runway show into a muted Royal coronation. Set behind the backdrop of Milan’s Triennale Design Museum, models dazzled in signature house colors and silhouettes.
At this coronation though, models wore floor-skimming coats rather than tulle ball gowns.
In signature Queen Elizabeth II style, the countryside was a major source of inspiration for Griffiths – layered equestrian capes, hunting jackets, and tied headscarves – combined Queen favorites with Max Mara chicness. Layered outerwear and oversized silhouettes – styled by our very own EIC – were a refreshing update to established Max Mara signatures. The color palette was a mix of khaki, beige, and camel with pops of emerald green and crimson mixed throughout.
The collection could have been transported from an equestrian outing with Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Anne, but make it fashion. And that’s why we love Max Mara.
