It should come as no surprise that longtime Christian Dior collaborator Judy Chicago has reunited with the brand for its Dior Lady Art Project.

The iconic American artist, whose work dives into the feminist psyche, teams up with Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri once again presenting a reimagined version of the classic Lady Dior handbag. Chicago previously designed the set for Dior’s goddess-inspired Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2020 runway, begging the question– “what if women ran the world?”

Chicago’s signature spiral featured in her major art installations is part of her take on the Lady Dior. With hints of blue, purple, pink, and orange, the iridescent patent leather bag adds an elevated groovy twist, perfectly fitted for Chicago’s artistic background rooted in the ’60s and ’70s second feminist wave.

In 2016, Dior and British artist Marc Quinn launched the Dior Lady Art Project, merging the world of fashion and art and creating a whole new look for the heritage bag. Artists like Athi-Patra Ruga, Rina Banerjee, Wang Guangle, Jia Lee, and Eduardo Terrazas have all presented their version of the bag with printing, embroidery, patchwork, and quilting all adding a unique take on the iconic silhouette.

Since then, all four capsule collections between the house and global artists have become massive hits. Chicago’s take on the bag for the brand’s fifth installment is sure to make a statement.
