Picking a Halloween costume can be one of the most difficult decisions of the year. This Halloween, don’t wrack your brain for costume ideas– CR has got you covered. We’ve dug deep into the CRchives and broke down the recipe to recreate some of our most iconic beauty looks for spooky season. From Zendaya’s artistic face paint to Lily-Rose Depp’s rocker chic smokey eye, we’re bringing the copycat looks to try out for celebrating during this Halloween season.

LADY GAGA

Princess of pop Lady Gaga showed off her dark side for the cover of CR7 in a series of photos posed as a rebel bride with lots of tulle and eyeliner. Whether you try the look or cry your mascara off on accident, this Gaga-grade beauty is a no-fuss last minute costume for any Halloween event.

1.
Apply a base of face makeup as usual, this look is all about the eyes.

2. Begin prepping the eyes with Dior Makeup’s Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara in Black for plump, jet black lashes to last. The more mascara, the better.

3.
Mix a bit of water and mascara creating a liquid paint. Use a fine tip makeup brush to the paint through the lashes and under-eye to add a natural dripping look. Extra black eyeliner around the waterline is of course optional, but encouraged.

4. Add a bit of extra faux-drip under the eye as if you’ve been crying over a breakup with Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Magic Marc’er Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Black.

5. If you want to go the extra mile on your beauty look, use a clear gloss finish like MAC’s Mixing Medium Shine to give the teary-eyed makeup a natural wet tear look.

5. For the hair, gather your locks into two pigtails and tease the ends of the pigtails wildly. Use Living Proof’s Dry Volume Blast to add extra volume and keep it there all night long.

6. Gather strips of black tulle fabric and secure a gathered bunch of it atop the head with bobby pins, let the excess fabric cascade down like a veil.

Lily-Rose Depp

Smokey eye looks can be some of the hardest makeup looks to achieve, but it’s all about balancing the face with the right proportions of maximal and minimal makeup. This smouldering punk rock look from Lily-Rose Depp’s CR11 cover is the perfect mix of smokey eye without being too overbearing. No matter the intensity of eye look you’re going for, this look is easy to customize and make your own.

1. Depp’s smokey eye is achieved by layering medium to dark colors and creating dimensions on the eye. Start with Becca’s Light Gleam Primer and Topper Liquid Eyeshadow in Laser smudging the dark greyish purple base all over the eye extending it onto the temples slightly.

2.
Darken the color and set the eye into place with Pat McGrath’s Eyedols Eyeshadow in Black Matter centering the pigment on the eye-socket and bringing the color towards the temples and under the eye.

3. Rim the waterline with Charlotte Tilbury’s Rock ‘n’ Kohl Eyeliner in Bedroom Black and smudge out to add extra intensity to the eye.

4. In terms of hair, this slicked back wet look is an easy heat-free style that lasts. Begin with towel dried hair massaging through Sachajuan’s Ocean Mist Hair Cream with your fingers. Let air dry.

5. Once dried, place your hair in a center part finishing the hair off with Oribe’s Star Glow Styling Wax for a shiny wet sheen.

6. Comb through the hair gathering it behind the ears.

7. This look is topped off with a freshly painted set of black nails.

Zendaya

The face is your canvas for this look from Zendaya’s CR12 cover which channels the exaggerated makeup looks found in artist Cindy Sherman’s portrait work. Take your beauty look to a whole new level this Halloween with this artistic take on face painting. When it comes to this look– the messier, the better.

1. Start by slicking down your natural brows with a makeup glue. Don’t worry, we’re drawing them back on later.

2. Follow with a thick layer of foundation covering the entire face (eyebrows too) creating an unrealistic complexion. Use Live Tinted’s Hueglow across the cheekbones for an extra shine to your cakeup.

3. Using Makeup Forever’s Flash Palette, mix together neutral skin tone colors and paint messily across the face using a mix of sponges and makeup brushes to add different textures.

4. Smudge a medium green paint from the palette across the eyelids with your fingertips.

5. Take a grey-toned eyeliner and exaggerate your features by outlining around them and penciling in a thin brow.

6. Hair can be kept minimal or pushed back for this look to balance out the heavy makeup look.
