As a Field Technician, youu2019ll play a key role in supporting day-to-day field work for geotechnical engineering projects. Youu2019ll be responsible for observing geotechnical explorations, conducting site visits, monitoring construction for compliance with project specifications, and preparing daily field reports. Youu2019ll also have a chance to get your hands dirty (literally) by assisting with collection and testing of soil and/or groundwater samples at various project sites. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors field explorations and construction activities as they relate to the companyu2019s services.
  • Completes detailed, accurate field notes and prepares daily field reports in a timely manner.
  • Collects samples from the field (soil, groundwater, surface water, concrete, etc.) in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintains and operates field equipment/instrumentation as needed in accordance with specified procedures.
  • Conducts field inspections in a safe manner in accordance with established Health and Safety guidelines.
  • May assist with laboratory testing as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • No experience required; at least one year of previous geotechnical borehole logging and/or construction monitoring field experience in private consulting preferred.  
  • 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driveru2019s license

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position, located in Baton Rouge LA, is $18.02 – $28.77 per hour. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. GeoEngineersu2019 salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. As part of our competitive total rewards package, employees in this role may also be eligible for our annual year-end bonus offering, subject to program eligibility requirements.
