The Men Wore Pink

In line with the recent Fall/Winter 2020 Men’s runways, which wrapped up in Paris last week and solidified the ever-changing landscape of men’s fashion, tonight’s menswear looks at the 62nd annual Grammy Awards were nothing short of amazing. And pink.

From Tyler, the Creator to Shawn Mendes to Lil Nas X, celebrities favored different variations of the hue, all of which were bold—and extremely fun—red carpet choices. Even host Alicia Keys got in on the fun, though it was the aforementioned men’s looks that took the cake.

Tyler, the Creator went full Wes Anderson mode in his pastel pink Golf Wang ensemble. A nod to the filmmaker, no doubt, but also, perhaps, an homage to the aesthetic of his newest album, Igor, which is up for Best Rap Album.

Shawn Mendes, who’s in the running to win Best Pop Duo/Group Performance alongside girlfriend Camila Cabello, opted for a raspberry-colored, three-piece Louis Vuitton suit. Bedazzled accessories felt reminiscent of the kind of feminine, couture-like accoutrements Kim Jones recently presented at Dior Men’s.

It was six-time nominee and performer Lil Nas X, though, who dropped jaws tonight. With mesh, studs, Medusa motifs, and a ton of leather, the “Old Town Road” star hit the red carpet in bright pink Versace, recalling Donatella’s bondage-inspired aesthetic of the ’90s and putting every other celebrity to shame. Except Lizzo, maybe.
