No Bad Days for Offset

No two days are ever the same, especially if you’re Kiari Kendrell Cephus, the American rapper better known as Offset. One third of trap music trio Migos, the 27-year-old is having one hell of a year—and it’s only March. Between his first Paris Fashion Week (where he walked in Off-White’s menswear show), Grammy appearance and reconciliation with Cardi B, and a nine-month-old at home, he’s got a lot going on. Much of this, in fact, inspired his debut solo album, Father of 4, which surprise released just days ago.

In his most vulnerable moment yet, the record takes us on an audible journey from his own childhood to that of his infant’s, revealing complexities not often thought of in relation to the rapper. There’s the first single, “Red Room,” where the rapper reflects on his charged upbringing (“How I grew up momma was my dad”) and “Wild Wild West,” a track with newcomer Gunna in which the two talk frankly about living how they like regardless of the law. Through it all, the message is clear: the rapper is going to get his way whether you like it or not. In the video above—filmed on the most average of no-average days—Offset shows CR MEN how to trek through the toughest of times with a smile and a fire fit.
