MADE L.A. Returns with Wiz Khalifa and Opening Ceremony

While LA isn’t in danger of pulling up its flip-flopped and fringed roots just yet, the quintessentially casual city has gone a bit more glam of late. To wit: New York runway regulars Rachel Comey, Tommy Hilfiger, and Rebecca Minkoff all showed their Fall 2017 collections in the City of Angels; Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri, meanwhile, hoofed it to the Santa Monica Mountains for Cruise 2018. As producers, designers, and nature-lovers will attest, the city gives good backdrop—and puts on a decent show.

Come Friday, MADE LA, the two-day fashion, music, and culture fest, returns Downtown with two well-known New Yorkers in tow: Opening Ceremony’s Carol Lim and Humberto Leon—native Angelenos, natch. Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of OC’s La Cienaga outpost, the runway show will feature the Fall 2017 collection, along with a performance from Wu Tang Clan’s RZA.

On Saturday, Grammy-nominated rapper-cum-style star Wiz Khalifa will debut a unisex capsule collection created in collaboration with LA streetwear labels 424 and Pleasures. Khalifa’s Taylor Gang labelmates, who include Juicy J and Ty Dolla $ign, will perform. Additionally, over 30 international brands, including Maryam Nassir Zadeh, Osklen, Emma Mulholland, and Maison Kitsuné, will show as part of MADE LA’s Shop Small initiative.

Rounding out the festivities, OG West Coast ambassador Snoop Dogg will present his first-ever fashion show in partnership with JOYRICH, a launch that’s slated to include everything from tees and bathrobes to pet accessories, according to Billboard. Reportedly inspired by the rapper-entrepreneur’s early days in the game, the 33-piece capsule collection was creative directed by Snoop’s son, Cordell Broadus. Laid-back ‘90s nostalgia, trendy dog(g) clothes, and maybe a little nepotism—what could be more LA than that?
