Louis Vuitton Unveils Official Collab With Supreme

The Internet hype was real. Following a social media leak exactly two weeks ago, Louis Vuitton has confirmed its collaboration with cult NYC street wear brand Supreme. Unveiled in epic fashion at LV’s Fall 2017 runway show in Paris this morning, the range features an extensive arrange of items—predominantly accessories—bearing both of the brand’s logos.

In an interview with WWD before the show, LV’s creative director Kim Jones recalled years unpacking boxes of Supreme while at college in London as the beginning of his personal affiliation for the brand and the spark behind the collaboration. “I was just starting out, so it’s something I’ve known all along in my life,” he said. “I just feel that the strength of their graphic versus the strength of the Louis Vuitton graphic, and that kind of Pop Art feeling—it works together perfectly.” Jones added that LV is likely to open a series of dedicated popup stores for the co-branded products when they launch on July 17th this year.

Many were skeptical when rumors of the two brands pairing up initially surfaced given their recent shaky history. Back in 2000, the duo were embroiled in a trademark lawsuit wherein LV forced Supreme to recall and subsequently incinerate a range of tees and skateboards that featured its logo without permission. Seventeen years, however, seems enough time to bury the hatchet—which will come as a relief to logo heads everywhere and those who share our thoughts that this will be the most in-demand, collectible collab of 2017.
