“In loving memory of Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton pays tribute to the life and legacy of a creative genius with a presentation of his Spring-Summer 2022 Collection in Miami on November 30th,” reads a recent post on Louis Vuitton’s Instagram.

Tragically, after a private battle with cancer, Virgil Abloh died at the age of 41 on November 29. The son of a Ghanaian immigrant was an icon in his own right, paving the way and inspiring many. His success held no limits from acting as founder and creative director for his brand Off-White to being the first Black artistic director of menswear at Louis Vuitton. The outpouring of grief from fans, friends, and industry peers came at no surprise. It was always clear Abloh was well loved. Many sent their love to his family, like Hailey Bieber, whose wedding dress he designed.

In honor of the great creative and great man, Louis Vuitton is turning their planned showing of the newest collection into a tribute to Abloh, which will now be his last collection. In a statement, chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, Michael Burke said, “He was an eternal optimist who believed that anything was possible because he was an avid supporter of the community through philanthropy and passion. It was.”

He seemed to work until the very end. Creative collaborator, Anders Christian Madsen, stated “On Saturday evening, @virgilabloh and I wrote our last words for his @louisvuitton show in Miami,” on his Instagram.

Tributes from friends and peers:

The tribute presentation of his Spring-Summer 2022 Collection for Louis Vuitton will be shown in Miami on November 30th at 5:30 pm (ET).
