Mimi Wade and Petra Collins transport us to the glamour of Hollywood’s Golden Age for the Spring/Summer 2022 season. The Mimi Wade muse derives from her Granny Pammy, an Old Hollywood model and actress whose influence is reflected in Wade’s simultaneously glamorous and mischievous designs. After moving to Los Angeles to be near her grandmother during the pandemic, the designer drew upon the city’s history to inspire her latest collection. Mimi Wade invited Petra Collins and Moni Haworth to capture the modern nostalgia behind her garments.
Mimi Wade’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection styled by Evanie Frausto explores cinematic legacy through upcycling vintage tees with reminiscent motifs. Just as starlets were scouted in the Golden Age, Wade sourced out vintage fairs for pieces that could take on a new life in her designs. Ageless Americana meets modern sportswear with elaborate embellishments and elegant silhouettes. Green and pink exaggerated party dresses draw on the glamorous fantasy of Old-Hollywood style.
The photographs by Collins and Haworth transport the viewer to a cinematic daydream, where twenty-somethings carelessly lounge in the limelight donned in Mimi Wade’s designs. Whether they’re sprawled across a gilded manor or jetting past the Hollywood Sign with a feast of fast food, the images capture Granny Pammy’s carefree spirit amidst the allure of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
