For the luxury brand’s centennial year, Gucci has introduced a wave of collaborations— or “hackings” as they call it— down the runway. Earlier this year Gucci paired up with Spanish luxury house Balenciaga for it’s first ever high-fashion designer partnership, Gucci Aria, showcasing printed puffers and branded ‘Jackie’ bags— the ultimate hypebeast’s dream. Gucci also unveiled a collectible mini Cadillac Seville car as part of a collaboration with Hot Wheels and debuted its online digital concept archive, the Vault, which also acts as an e-commerce website. Now, the famed luxury house has taken to Instagram to tease the release of their next project: a capsule collection with Comme des Garçon.

On October 11, Gucci posted on its Instagram story an announcement about their next “hacking” with Japanese house Comme des Garçon. Gucci confirmed that the first drop will feature an updated rendition of their co-branded tote bags, which will be released exclusively on the Gucci Vault. The design of the tote has yet to be released, and Gucci continues to tease us with a film of the Gucci x CDG box on the vault website.

Though the upcoming design has been sealed in secrecy, the pairing’s first iconic tote was released in 2018, presenting PVC-wrapped paper totes branded with Gucci’s infamous red and green stripe detail atop the CDG logo. The following year, the same PVC bag dropped featuring Gucci’s famous florals. Both bags sold out almost instantly, and we expect the same of the upcoming drop.

The new Gucci x Comme des Garçon tote bag will be available on Friday, October 15th.
