Brunello Cucinelli and Oliver Peoples join points of view in a debut eyewear collection by the designer and first collaboration for the brand, in honor of their respective heritages of Solomeo, Italy, and sunny Southern California. They come together in a shared appreciation for stylish Italian craftsmanship with a line influenced by the architecture of medieval Solomeo and glamorous Italian cinema.
“For the design process, working with Cucinelli’s team was seamless,” said Giampiero Tagliaferri, Creative Director of Oliver Peoples. “We spoke the same design language as we both champion the process of crafting something simple yet incredibly special – through the use of purposeful materials and intricate details. For this reason, the collection is characterized by a luxurious simplicity.”
Cucinelli’s “humanistic enterprise” is devoted to imprinting emotion in their handcrafted products that have “a soul and a story to tell.” Oliver Peoples attention to detail, through unique vintage-inspired styles, naturally represents Cucinelli’s clothing in the neutral palette of the pilot-style Disoriano, his “Monile” pattern manifested in corewire, and the skyline view of Solomeo through a castle archway in the engraved logo.
The five styles include Atermio, which marries optical and sunglass with sustainably sourced genuine horn temples, Filu’, with the bold framing, and Nino, that nods to old-an Hollywood and DolceVita aesthetic. Brunello Cucinelli x Oliver Peoples also introduces an exclusive colorway of the Oliver Sun style in Olive Smoke. The eyewear remains in Cucinelli’s signature colors and exclusive materials, packaged in the designer’s flannel.
“It is an immense honor to collaborate with Brunello Cucinelli,” said CEO of Oliver Peoples Rocco Basilico. “This is a fully natural collaboration, as both brands identify with craftsmanship, value tradition and draw inspiration from history and everything around them.”
The eyewear campaign tells a story “dedicated to a moment of the present that reflects the past,” from beautiful shared memories between California and Italy, where reflecting on nostalgia can inform the future.
