Chanel is recycling a Karl Lagerfeld era favorite: Dubai. Come November 2, the couture giant plans to host an in-person unveiling of their Cruise 2022 collection at the destination of their 2015 show.
However, Chanel’s Dubai runway will not be the collection’s first appearance. During May 2021, the Cruise collection was revealed at the Carrières de Lumières in the village of Les Baux-de-Provence in southern France. Sweeping limestone walls backdropped a ’60s and punk-inspired range of looks.
In keeping with the resort theme, Chanel embraces the opportunity to showcase a new location for each year of Cruise. 2000 was the show’s first year, only to be echoed by other houses in later years. Some standout destinations have been Havana, Hong Kong, Seoul, and even the Grand Central Terminal in New York. Each season’s runway setting creates quite the buzz, and we have no doubt that Dubai will not disappoint.
