After last year’s award ceremony being completely virtual due to COVID-19, this year’s CFDA Awards will officially be in-person this year. The event that usually takes place every summer was pushed back to November of this year due to the concern of the virus.
This year’s ceremony will take place at The Pool and The Grill in the Seagram Building on Park Avenue on Wednesday, November 10. The CFDA has announced that the 2021 CFDA Awards will be in compliance with CDC and New York State guidelines.
CFDA CEO, Steven Kolb shared in a statement the importance of the event and the return of New York City and fashion stating, “This is an important moment in American fashion. There is much excitement about the return of New York City and New York Fashion Week, as well as the top caliber of diverse talent making their mark on the city and the global fashion landscape. The awards are CFDA’s biggest fundraiser of the year supporting our scholarship program, and we look forward to our industry coming together, in person again, to celebrate the very best of American creativity,” said CFDA CEO, Steven Kolb.
This event is major to the fashion industry as it serves as the first in-person awards show in the fashion industry in two years and is the first in-person event that the CFDA has put on since the start of the pandemic. Just last week, the CFDA also released the calendar for New York Fashion Week’s return this September, which will also be in-person.
The CFDA Awards serve as one of the biggest events in the fashion industry for designers and other working professionals in the industry. “The CFDA Fashion Awards are our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we are looking forward to our industry coming together, in person again, to celebrate the very best of American creativity,” said Kolb.
