The Celine Winter 2019 Campaign Goes Casual

The first part of Celine’s Winter 2019 campaign was unveiled today, featuring Creative Director Hedi Slimane’s minimalist approach. The images, lensed by Slimane, convey a more relaxed side of the label. They capture the French bourgeois feel that was apparent throughout the Celine Fall/Winter 2019 collection. As on the runway, the campaign focuses on separates, with highly wearable options styled for everyday use. Unlike the previous suited-up and glamorous vision of the Summer 2019 campaign, the Winter campaign is infused with a sense of reality and relatability.

Slimane’s sleek aesthetic is still apparent in the campaign images of models Marland and Adrien, who are the sole focus of each frame–besides the clothes, of course. In addition to the full looks featured in the campaign, close-ups highlight Celine accessories and jewelry. One shot features the model wearing nothing but a choker necklace lined with petite stars. Another close-up of an embossed crossbody bag lends a more masculine feel with its styling against a brown houndstooth blazer, striped shirt, and blue jeans.

The accompanying campaign video also follows Slimane’s previous slideshow-style campaigns, keeping the images moving frame by frame. This time, the video is set against the moody tones of Shitkid’s “Yooouuu,” juxtaposing the more mature collection with an angsty, youthful sound.
