Celebrating the Salone del Mobile design week in Milan, Bottega Veneta announced the advanced release of the brand’s new Arco bag from their upcoming Fall/Winter 2019 collection. Newly appointed creative director Daniel Lee has been working to reinstate the essentials to the Italian house. Addicted to craftsmanship and sophistication, Lee created the Arco bag, tapping into the houses’ rich history and resources in high quality intrecciato leather weaving.

Available in four sizes across several neutral tones, the bag is made from a new variety of French calfskin bonded with suede in an unlined interior that reveals the complete construction of the bag.

The largest size, the Arco 75, alternates French calfskin and suede in a texturized checked pattern. Non-woven versions are additionally offered in exotic skins, including soft crocodile and palmellato.

The name of the bag was inspired by Milan’s own Arco della Pace, a neoclassical arch residing in the city center. Created in 1838, the monument provided the backdrop for the brand’s most recent Fall/Winter 2019 show, placing guests in Italian history. The architecture of the bag itself closely follows the architecture of the iconic location with a dome-shaped flap and long tubular handles in an arch shape.

The Arco bag is available now at Bottega Veneta’s Milan boutiques and online.
