LA Native Charlotte Rose is a bookworm at heart. After walking exclusively for Burberry and Prada for Spring/Summer 2019, Rose prefers comfortable clothes over designer and longs to join a book club. She speaks with a California accent and has a poise far beyond her eighteen years. The up-and-comer dished with CR on the crazy moments of her first-ever fashion show, her go-to casting outfit, and where she finds her fashion inspiration.
How did you get started in your career?
“A friend actually told me that he texted pictures of me to his agent without asking. He just told me that he’d already done it! The next day, I got a text from the agent asking me to come in. I went in and got signed that day. It was all so spontaneous. I was 16 years old, and it has been almost three years.”
What was your favorite Spring/Summer 19 Fashion Week moment?
“That’s tough. I think my first show, Burberry. It was so crazy. We had worked for weeks, as I’d been there doing looks with them in London for two weeks before. The team was there until 3 A.M. some nights. We all got to know each other so well, the models and the stylists, and we were all working towards this big thing. It was crazy to see Riccardo [Tisci] put it all together. It happened before my eyes and it was so exciting. I was so nervous and afterwards, I almost started crying. All the exclusive girls had done so much hard work at the headquarters, and to see it come together was amazing.”
If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
“Iceland. There is a blue lagoon that I want to see, and I want to go horseback riding. I think it is the most scenic place, and I love that, especially living in the city. I’d want the most scenic place I could get.”
What is your go-to casting outfit?
“Honestly, I wear whatever I can find that fits me well. Most of the time in my normal life, I wear baggy jeans and baggy shirts. If you see me with my friends, I wear non-fitted, comfortable clothes. Cool, but comfortable. At castings, I’ll wear my favorite jeans but with a tank top or something. I shop for a lot of vintage stuff, looking for whatever fits me and whatever feels cool.”
What do you like to do when you’re not modeling?
“I love to read, but I get to do that a lot while modeling, since there is a bit of waiting. I love to write, as well. I haven’t in a while, but I want to start picking it back up now that I’m in New York. I used to surf in LA, but I have to start finding my hobbies here. I want to join a book club and get into a writer’s workshop.”
Who’s your favorite musical artist?
“Right now, I’m listening to a lot of Grimes, but my all-time favorite band is The Cure.”
