Remember When Lara Stone Babysat Luka Sabbat?

Riccardo Tisci famously fell in love with Lara Stone upon first sight when he cast her exclusively for Givenchy’s Fall 2006 Haute Couture runway event. A no one at the time, it was Stone’s first foray onto the runway, and would propel the young Dutch model to fashion world stardom, leading her to fronting campaigns, finale-ing shows, several CR covers, and becoming a gap-toothed face of a generation.

From Justin Bieber to Kate Moss, whom she embraced for Balenciaga’s Fall/Winter 2015 campaign, Stone has amassed quite a crew through the years, but perhaps no connection is quite as unique as hers with Luka Sabbat. While recently linked to Kourtney Kardashian, the 21-year-old influencer has been making waves in fashion for the last few seasons thanks to his model-esque looks, eccentric streetwear style, and friendships with fashion crossovers like that of Virgil Abloh, Kanye West, and A$AP Rocky. As it turns, Stone apparently babysat him as a child.

While not much is known about the exact set-up—when, where, how—it is likely the job came from Sabbat’s mother, Jessica Romer, who worked for many years as a model booker and in fashion show production for Bureau Betak on Christian Dior. Like all watcher/watchee relationships, the babysitting ended at one point. We can only hope they still share a nod when they pass each other in the late-night night clubs in Paris.
