RuPaul turns 61 today and we’re celebrating by taking a look at his campiest looks throughout the decades. The drag queen, actor, model, singer, host, and author has lived a life full of show stopping looks and inspired a generation to live authentically, and fabulously too.
“That is the key to navigating this life—don’t take it too seriously. That’s when the party begins,” he once said. That’s what camp’s all about, after all. “Drag is there to remind culture not to take itself too seriously. All of this is illusion.”
RuPaul’s most important advice? “When you become the image of your own imagination, it’s the most powerful thing you could ever do.”
