Leave it to Lady Gaga to shut down the 2019 Met Gala just moments after it began. The co-host of this year’s camp-themed event showed up in a shocking pink gown with a 25-foot-long train and a team of suited male dancers holding umbrellas. Gaga tapped designer Brandon Maxwell to design her dress of the evening. Maxwell was the mastermind behind Gaga’s infamous meat dress that she wore to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

After making her grand arrival on the carpet and her dancers formed a circle around the singer, lifting the train of her dress like a parachute, Gaga underwent not one, but four different outfit changes. She took off the enormous pink gown to reveal a sleek little black dress a la Judy Garland. She then took that dress off to reveal a body-con pink dress, evoking vibes of Marilyn Monroe in Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend. Gaga then took out a brick phone out of her purse, as well as crystal-encrusted black sunglasses, for the next part of her carpet performance while her glam team touched up her blonde bob with spritzes of hairspray.

The final outfit change involved Gaga stripping down to her negligee, surprising the crowd with a skin-baring bedazzled black bra and fishnet underwear set, embodying camp to the fullest extent. To complete the moment, Gaga also brought out a cart, called “Haus of Gaga” carrying Maxwell’s bottles of rose that he sent down the Fall/Winter 2019 runway.
