Why You Should Be Incorporating Antimicrobial Towels into Your Skincare Routine

Did you know the towel you use matters just as much as the skincare products you put on your face?

Think about how often you use your towel — every time you wash your face, you reach for that towel to pat dry. So you’re probably using that towel at least twice a day. Experts recommend that towels should be washed after three uses. It’s easy to lose track of how many days you’ve used the towel, and suffice to say it’s likely the towel is not being washed as frequently as necessary.

Towels can become a breeding ground for bacteria, mildew, mold, and other skin irritants, leading to clogged pores, acne flare ups, and infection. They also hold dead skin cells, oils, and other debris from the skin that easily irritates it. With our skin so easily irritated by masks over the last year and a half, the last thing we need is another way to upset our skin. You don’t even want to know how much bacteria your towel holds.

Resoré is on a mission to change the way we dry our face. Founders Evah Jackson, Nathan Jackso, and Sarah DeBoer, created a naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic towel that stays clean so our skin can too. Unlike standard bathroom towels, theirs don’t breed or harbor bacteria. They created the most advanced, medical grade body towels and washcloths to become a staple in our everyday skincare routine.

The face towel is suitable for all skin types and is made from a blend of antibacterial and eco-friendly fibers, resulting in a soft and fluffy yet absorbent towel that protects our skin’s health. As an antibacterial towel, it includes Silverbac™ and Lyocell™ which stops the spread and incubation of 99.9 percent of bacteria and potent skin irritants. (Fun fact, silver is a natural antimicrobial and a great addition to your skincare routine.) Towels usually absorb a lot of water and stay damp for hours (leading to a bacteria breeding ground!), but Resoré’s hydrophilic fiber combination keeps them from staying wet.

These towels are environmentally friendly as well. They’re designed to stay clean after several washes, so you don’t have to worry about extra laundry and can save water by washing them less frequently.

“Silverbac is a technology that uses pure silver, this has been encapsulated into the fibres of Resorè towels to break down germs and stop the spread of bacteria. Regular towels harbour skin irritating bacteria and pathogens which can all lead to further congestion, inflammation and sensitivity. If you’re pressing a towel to your breakout, letting it sit and then pressing it to your face yet again, you’re incubating this bacteria. This is what makes Resorè towels perfect for those concerned with blemishes, congestion and sensitivity,” said Resoré in-house specialist Melanie Grant, who’s also the Chanel skin expert says

“I like to use my Resorè towel in the evenings to remove my cleansers and facial masks. I soak it in tepid water before pressing it into the complexion to break down product, dirt, and grime within the pores, before gently sweeping over the face, neck, and décolleté until clean. I then use a second face towel to gently pat the skin dry. The antibacterial properties means I can simply hang my Resorè towel to dry between uses, and wash it every second use.” Grant notes that antimicrobial towels only add another layer of efficiency into your routine. “This additional step ensures that build up of dead cells and debris accumulated on the skin’s surface are thoroughly removed revealing a healthier complexion,” she said.
