How Tom Holland and Zendaya Developed Their Couple Style

This summer was the summer of love, from a reconciliation from Bennifer to the origins of the “manic pixie dream boyfriend” with MGK and Megan Fox to the Brooklyn’s new it-couple, Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum. Perhaps, a myriad of pairings no one could have predicted (lets not even open the Pandora’s box of Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson). Summer, also, gave us a couple simmering slowly over the years : Tom Holland and Zendaya.

Speculation of the pair’s relationship started as soon as the casting for Spider-Man was announced way back in 2017. It wasn’t until July 2021 that an invasive paparazzi photo of the Spider-Man co-stars kissing in Holland’s car circled the internet confirming their relationship. Though the same speculation bubbles up for any good looking pair starring in a movie together. Maybe, because every other Peter Parker and Mary Jane dated from Tobey McGuire and Kirsten Dunst to Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. With one picture, every stan’s dream came true, including us.

Though neither have come out publicly confirming their relationship, the two have alluded to their love, but are clear about keeping it all away from the public eye.”It’s not a conversation that I can have without her,” Tom told GQ, “you know, I respect her too much to say… This isn’t my story. It’s our story. And we’ll talk about what it is when we’re ready to talk about it together.” The young couple have shown nothing but elegance and maturity in balancing their privacy without keeping it all a secret.

Still, Tom and Zendaya can’t seem to help gushing about each other whether it’s in interviews or on social media. Since the first photo, Tom’s been an A+ Instagram boyfriend, posting a photo of them from set with the caption, ” My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when your up xxx,” for her birthday. He’s also posted photos on his main grid of just her on the Dune premiere red carpet and at the CFDA awards, not holding his heart eyes back. Trust us, we get it, Tom. If we were dating Zendaya, we would too.

But, what screams “we’re successful, hot, and in love,” like sharing a stylist? (Zoe Kravitz and Channing Tatum are doing it.) Yes, Zendaya’s longtime stylist and collaborator Law Roach started styling Tom Holland on the Spider-Man: No Way Home press tour. The internet already seemed to notice a change in the British actor’s style, mostly giving credit to Zendaya. She is a fashion icon, with a CFDA award to prove it. Though, some credit must go to Law as well.

Tom’s style has developed over the years. Looking back to the red carpets of Spiderman past, Tom opted for a high top sneaker, skinny jeans, and a blazer for casual looks and a suit for something fancier. To be honest, it is hard to really mess up a suit. His style seemed to become more refined with time, dipping into different types of jackets, silky bomber and suede. The suits he chose for red carpets diverted from basic silhouettes in black to double breasted in dark greens and maroons.

With Law, he’s already upped his style game, as one has to when they are dating the youngest winner of the the CFDA Fashion Icon Award. Everyone loves the curly locks he’s been sporting, but it goes beyond that. Style isn’t about simply finding a great piece and throwing it on. It’s all encompassing. Details are important to create an ensemble. With cohesive looks that build off of the last each time, personal style is born beyond taste. Law is creating looks for Tom that do just that, putting him in designers like Celine and Boss and allowing him to explore texture, color, and silhouette.

From what we’ve seen so far, Law works with Zendaya and Tom individually, putting them in outfits that feel specific to each, while still feeling complimentary. Zendaya’s elegant 2000 Callvali dress paired sweetly with Tom’s classic tuxedo while at Ballon d’Or in Paris. On the Graham Norton show, the two wore suits, Zendaya’s a green Valentino with a silk purple top and Tom’s a tone of purple that nodded subtly towards her look.

There is a reason Law is winning his own awards like “stylist of the year” for Hollywood Reporter.

And, do we even have to mention Zendaya is slaying every look, or is that obvious by now? She’s known to dawn her favorite Valentino, but recently the pair have sprinkled in some Vivienne Westwood, Rick Owens, Alaïa, and Loewe looks as well, only proving that Zendaya can pull off anything. With Law and her, the looks always go beyond what meets the eye, known to pull inspiration from a reference. Somewhat genius, her press looks have been referencing the villains from the upcoming film. We would love to see Tom pulled in this direction as well, along with just exploring all that fashion has to offer besides just a black suit.

There is only more to come, from killer looks to adorable interactions, as this is only the beginning of the press tour. So, sit back, relax, and refresh your Instagram feeds.
