Revealing CR Fashion Book Issue 13, an edition of compassion, celebration, and creativity. Fronted by CR stars Gigi Hadid—marking the supermodel’s third CR cover—and Halima Aden—who appears on CR for a second time—the issue celebrates both girls, who both made their magazine cover debuts on CR Fashion Book, as they join the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) as a supporter and ambassador of the global organization respectively.

The dual Fall/Winter 2018 covers were lensed by contemporary art photographer Pieter Hugo, styled by Carine, and were conceived to engage today’s generation of youth with the important story of the global refugee crisis.

Seen in a striking portfolio that features the likes of CR girl Danielle Herrington, former Somalian refugee Hamdia Ahmed, model Dipti Sharma, and others, the diverse talent appear in high fashion pieces from seasonal collections mixed in with official merchandise from the 70-year-old, child-focused non-profit.

“For many years I admired UNICEF ambassadors like Audrey Hepburn, and today I am so proud to celebrate the lifesaving mission of this organization, especially in such a challenging year for children and refugees,” says Carine. “According to UNICEF, more children are on the move now than at any point since World War II. This shocking statistic means that empowering children to think, do, and dream bigger is more essential and urgent than ever.”

Elsewhere inside, the rest of CR 13 re-examines traditional elements of superstition. Kim Kardashian West—who made her fashion magazine cover appearance on CR Fashion Book Issue 3—appears as a ghost from a simpler time in a fashion editorial lensed by Jackie Nickerson. CR 10 star Paris Jackson channels (and interviews) Stevie Nicks for the legendary Mario Sorrenti, while Kaia Gerber—whose first magazine photoshoot was for CR 7 at the young age of 13—shows off Fall 2018’s most inspiring couture pieces for Carine and David Luraschi.

Explains Carine: “I have always considered 13 to be lucky, despite its dark energy. My plan for this edition was to, of course, explore the witches and demons and occult symbols associated with 13, but also to give the number a positive spin—to reclaim it and celebrate it.”

CR Fashion Book Issue 13 will be on newsstands starting September 13, 2018. To pre-order an advance copy click here, and sign up for our newsletter for exclusive stories from the new issue.
