Model Anok Yai Is Estée Lauder’s Newest Spokesmodel

Sudanese model Anok Yai joins the Estée Lauder family as the newest spokesmodel of the brand, joining the likes of Misty Copeland, Kendall Jenner, and Fei Fei Sun, amongst others. Announced today, Yai appears in stunning campaign portraits styled by Carine. This comes right on the heels of Yai’s history-making Prada runway walk, where she was the second black woman to ever open for the brand (Naomi Campbell was the first in 1997).

Yai was discovered via everyone’s favorite social network: Instagram. After a street-style photographer snapped a photo of her at Howard University’s homecoming, the image went viral and she sky-rocketed to fame, becoming known for her “beautiful, dark skin.”

In a press release, Yai announced her new position and said, “To be a woman of color representing an iconic brand that has continuously been at the forefront of beauty, is an honor. I hope to be an inspiration to young girls and women and encourage them to feel undeniably beautiful.”
