Tom Ford began working on his Spring/Summer 2021 collection in the throes of pandemic lockdown, when getting dressed up seemed like a frivolity. He sought an escape and in turn created one through a vibrant collection inspired by the ‘70s glamour of models such as Pat Cleveland and Donna Jordon. This manifested through bright makeup looks to complement the breezy and characteristically sexy fashion, much of which boasted zingy floral or animal prints. During these trying times, Ford looks ahead and provides an extravagant yet appropriate dose of verve for the present moment. “he global zeitgeist always effects fashion and for me this longing for a hopeful spring translates into somewhat classic relaxed clothes but clothes that make me smile,” he said. “Clothes to have a bit of fun in.”
