New York Fashion Week has come a long way since its inception in 1943. Originally called Press Week, NYFW began as an outlet to showcase American designers while World War II closed trading opportunity with France. Nearly 80 years and countless location shifts, name changes, and technological advancements later, New York Fashion Week continues to be a cornerstone of the fashion industry as well as the city itself. With the onset of the Spring/Summer 2020 runway season, CR rewinds the fashion clock 20 years, when the first 2000s collections were hitting the catwalks.
