If the name Nina Agdal doesn’t ring a bell, check the recent cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue or the much talked about Super Bowl advertisement for fast food chain Carl’s Jr. (the one where Agdal takes a bite out of a giant burger while wearing an American flag print bikini). But today in the CR office, the Denmark native showed us her true colors. Meet the down-to-earth model behind the bombshell bikini bod—we’re sure you’ll love her just as much as every man in America already does:

First memory of fashion?
“When I was 10, I really wanted a pair of Buffalo platform shoes in purple fake leather snakeskin. It took a really long time to convince my mom to let me have them. She was certain I was going to break one of my feet wearing them!”

How were you discovered?
“I was discovered by Elite Model Management while walking down the street in Copenhagen.”

What was your first big break?
“My first big break was when I was named ‘Rookie of the Year’ for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. After that, my name was on the map.”

What is your favorite modeling career moment so far?
“I have a client that I shoot with a lot and for Christmas they made me a scrapbook. It meant so much to me and made me feel so thankful that you can create relationships that feel like family as a model. Another career highlight was seeing my Carl’s Jr. commercial during the Superbowl and being on the the 50th Anniversary cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue with Chrissy Teigen and Lily Aldridge. After seeing the cover for the first time, I felt like I could tick off one of my career goals.”

What’s the best modeling advice you ever received?
“When I first started modeling, I was told to be confident in who I am and what I look like. To a client, you’re a product, which is why you can’t get upset if you don’t get a job. If they don’t want your look, there’s nothing that you can do. You just have to get back on the horse and carry on.”

Who is your favorite makeup artist and hairstylist?
“I’m so priveleged to have worked with so many talented people, so it’s really difficult to pick. That said, I absolutely love what Riad Azar does to my hair and what Aidan Keogh does to my skin. They both make me feel so beautiful.”

What’s your most embarrassing moment?
“I had swimming classes in school and I was pretty confident, so I put myself forward to be in the best group of swimmers. The teachers did a test to see if we matched our chosen categories and it turns out that I couldn’t really swim, so I was demoted to the baby pool with floaties.”

Who are your role models?
“My parents are my role models. They’re just such good people. Career-wise, I find Heidi Klum very inspiring. She has done so many different things.”

Favorite designers?
“I like to mix up labels. For example, I love bags from Givenchy and Céline, but I also love Zara basics, Nike sneakers, and ripped old jeans. I wear quite a lot of Derek Lam too. I dress pretty simply on a day-to-day basis.”

Favorite beauty trick?
“Rosewater and tons, tons, tons of water and green tea.”

What do you do to stay in shape?
“I work out five to six times a week and eat really healthily 80% of the time. Think vegetables with lean protein and a lot of green juice.”

What would people be most surprised to know about you?
“I’m not fancy, I do not wake up with sex hair, and I only eat the red skittles.”

Who is your celebrity crush?
“I have two: Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. I know, it’s weird.”

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of modeling?
“I love to go back home to Denmark and see my family and friends, play with dogs, and explore new restaurants.”

What projects do you have on the horizon?
“I’m working on a couple television projects at the moment. I definitely see myself doing more creative projects in the modeling world soon too.”

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
“I don’t know where I’ll be in ten years, but I’m sure I’ll be wiser and doing what makes me happy.”

Will you be in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue again?
“Who knows!”
