CR Exclusive: Sophia Loren Serves Up A Designer Dinner in the GCDS X Barilla Campaign

If there’s anything that Italy is known for, it’s great fashion and exceptional cuisine. In a delicious display of Italian excellence, fashion brand GCDS has teamed up with the pasta company Barilla for a designer dining experience.

The Dinner’s Ready campaign, casted by CR’s own Evelien Joos, stars icon Sophia Loren playing host to a group of fashionable friends, including trans YouTube star Nikita Dragun and drag queen Violet Chachki, to present and dish out The New Barilla by GCDS. To celebrate its launch, CR exclusively premieres the campaign image with the full cast of characters at the table.

The dinner party, a scene of exaggerated styles from the 1960s, features an abundance of fuchsia pieces. The color, according to Creative Director Giuliano Calza, communicates the main message of the campaign: all are welcome at this table. Loren echoed the sentiment, telling CR, “We had a lot of fun on the set and I hope this message is that of all young Italian creative talents.”

The vintage feel of the campaign takes inspiration from the work of Alfred Hitchcock and Doublas Sirk, according to director Nadia Lee Cohen. “The film moves through red brick streets, gritty subways, dark jazz clubs, and paradise beach highways,” she explains, “depicting a day in the life of a cornucopia cast members all on their way to a once in a lifetime meal.”
