There’s few things in this world that are as wild as Studio 54 was.
The iconic club was New York’s hedonic heaven (or hell, depends on who you’re asking). Although Studio 54 operated a little under three years, it’s cultural impact in the late ’70s inspired fashion and culture for decades to come. With an eclectic mix of native New Yorkers, models, fashion designers and rock bands, the crowd at the nightclub wasn’t one to be messed with.
There’s nothing quite like getting hot and sweaty on a dance floor in a room full of strangers wearing your Sunday best. While Studio 54 would certainly be hit with multiple COVID-19-related health code violations if it were around today, it’s hard not to wish you were there.
In a place where even the most raunchy grandmothers would clutch their pearls, Studio 54’s seemingly endless disco nights would often turn festive around the holiday season while retaining their signature flair.
Whether it’s being serenaded by Grace Jones or dancing with naked Santas, CR is living vicariously through a hazy, lipstick stained lens of the legendary celebrations at Studio 54.
