The most glamorous time of year has come around again—we’re Cannes-bound for Carine Roitfeld’s annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS runway show and auction. On May 25th, she’ll host the event at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc d’Antibes for the sixth consecutive year.

This year’s event will turn the Cannes red carpet into a very chic theme party with a runway show titled “The Golden Age of Hollywood.” Guests will see one-of-a-kind dresses from more than 30 fashion houses including Gucci, Chanel, Dior, Saint Laurent, Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Givenchy. Carine called upon each designer to create a custom eveningwear look that’s inspired by icons of the era: Marlene Dietrich, Jayne Mansfield, and Rita Hayworth. Such names call for an appropriate amount of sparkle, so each look will be paired with just enough Harry Winston jewelry to light up the runway.

“We think of Rita Hayworth who pioneered as a femme fatale in Gilda, Jayne Mansfield’s signature bombshell curves, and Marlene Dietrich as a tuxedo-clad cabaret singer in Josef von Sternberg’s Morocco,” Carine writes in a letter given out to this year’s guests. “Throughout her long-lasting career, Dietrich shone not only for her rare talent, but also her humanitarian efforts during World War II, which earned her honors from multiple countries.”

Not only is the show one of the chicest events during the Cannes Film Festival but, in past years, over 3.5 million euros has been raised by auctioning off the dresses alone. This year’s sponsor Harry Winston will contribute a special piece to the auction. In addition, actors Nicole Kidman, Jessica Chastain, Vanessa Redgrave, Diane Kruger, and Dustin and Lisa Hoffman will co-chair the event.

We’ll be reporting live from Cannes with updates from the red carpet and backstage with all of the cast of supermodels who will help bring Thursday’s show to life.
