Chanel’s Latest Iconic Bag Campaign Reinvents House Classics

Chanel’s superpower is that everything they make becomes an instant classic. We can’t question it.
This principle is no different with their new 11.12 handbag, “The Chanel Iconic,” which achieves a sense of timelessness despite being brand new.
Chanel is unique in that it maintains a strong connection to its history. The Chanel Iconic is inspired by the 2.55 bag dreamed up by Coco Chanel in 1955 and popularized by Karl Lagerfeld in the ’80s. The 11.12 makes some departures, the clasp features the iconic double Cs and the handle is made of an adjustable metal chain interlaced with leather. The diamond-quilted stitching so adored by the founder of the house keeps the bag classically Chanel.
The campaign, shot by legendary duo Inez and Vinoodh on the streets of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, features friends of the house modeling the bag in all of its wearability. Anna Mouglalis, Rianne van Rompaey, Imaan Hammam, are some of the famous faces who rock the 11.12. The five women in this campaign are icons in their own right, they embody the multiple generations that Chanel has touched,” Inez and Vinoodh explain.
