Looking to empower and support innovative artists, luxury powerhouse Chanel has announced a global program—the Chanel Culture Fund. A combination of unique initiatives and partnerships, the initiative focuses on propelling and supporting new ideas, partnerships, and collaborations for contemporary creatives and cultural institutions. The program centers on two areas: The “Chanel Next Prize” which supports ten individual creators and a series of international partnerships with establishments such as the National Portrait Gallery and The Centre Pompidou.

In an attempt to highlight and support artists, creatives, and innovators the Chanel Next Prize will offer individual awards of €100,000 to ten boundary-breaking artists. Spanning across the fields of music, dance, and visual arts, the luxury house is importantly patroning and uplifting creative sectors negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. “Open to artists of all ages, genders and nationalities,” the prize will not only offer financial backing, but also mentorship and curatorial advice. As a part of the wider initiative, Chanel is also partnering with several renowned cultural institutions to create and promote new programs and collaborations.

From London’s National Portrait Gallery to L.A.’s Underground Museum, the brand is focusing their partnerships on uplifting collaboration and highlighting voices that have historically been missing from artistic narratives. With a variety of focal points ranging from sustainable solutions for cities and communities to enhancing the representation of women in artistic fields, Chanel is modernizing a decade-long commitment of supporting the arts. “Chanel has always championed the vitality and advancement of the arts, and we now expand that tradition through the Fund with a focus on supporting cultural innovators and pathbreakers who are mapping out what’s next.”
