Every Look from Christian Cowan Fall/Winter 2021

Thanks to Christian Cowan, we’re traveling back to a prime era in time known as the early 2000s with his latest Fall/Winter 2021 Ready-to-Wear collection.

Cowan partners with Motorola and Matthew Frost to create a short film titled “A Fashion Thing”, benefitting The Loveland Foundation’s therapy fund for Black women and girls. The short film features Paris Hilton, Chloe Fineman, Justine Skye, Rachel Cargle, Parker Kit Hill, and more. It also features Motorola’s popular razr phone, which was the ultimate accessory during the 2000s.

The film opens with comedians Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman in a hotel wishing they were in “a fashion thing” when suddenly Parker Kit Hill appears and tells them that they are in one. Served on a platter rings a Motorola razr phone which once answered Paris Hilton appears questioning why the strangers have her phone. She asks “are you the models?” and they agree, unaware of what’s going on. Plus, who can say “no” to Paris Hilton? After agreeing, she tells them to “just be yourselves.”

Yang questions “Am I always performing?” which is a valid question as we’re always “on” for our social media, documenting every little detail of our lives as if we’re celebrities. Then, the show begins!

As for the collection itself, Cowan is all for going to bed in style with models posed and draped in glam. It also speaks to the idea that just because we’re at home most of the time due to the global pandemic, we’re still allowed to look good!
