This season Chanel highlights originality in its new Spring/Summer 2020 eyewear campaign. Photographed by Karim Sadli, musicians Angèle, Pharrell Williams, and Sébastien Tellier, joined by actresses Isabelle Adjani and Margaret Qualley, glow in the images. With the artist’s personality and distinctive style shining through, the French fashion house highlights five eyewear designs to be released in March 2020.
In the campaign, each star was paired with a sunglass design that matched their specific aura while displaying Chanel’s classic motifs. Singer Angéle’s oval shades feature transparent frames with a strand of classic grey pearls hanging from the arms. A line of pearls also wrap around Qualley’s large butterfly frames, styled with Chanel brooches. Adjani’s mystifying look has her blue eyes concealed behind oversized, square frames for a retro feel.
For Tellier, sizeable shield shades lined with Chanel’s signature tweed accentuate his intense gaze, while Chanel ambassador Williams sports a pair of square frames engraved with a woven tweed design that evoke the musician’s gender-bending edge.
Across each of the new eyewear designs, Chanel’s spirit of distinction and elegance is translated through the modern silhouettes, accented with nods to the fashion house’s heritage. With the five pop cultural figures behind the frames, the designs show how sunglasses are a key accessory for self-expression and the distinction of self.
