A Prada and Adidas Collaboration is Coming

Earlier this month, Prada and Adidas confirmed an upcoming collaboration, merging each brand’s expertise in luxury goods and sportswear, respectively. Fusing fashion and performance, the labels will explore the sports realm while delving into each of their archives. Today, Prada posted a new teaser for the Prada For Adidas collaboration, revealing that the capsule will also include a double-branded leather handbag in addition to sneakers. The brand also confirmed that the collection will be available on December 4, 2019, online and in select Prada stores.

At first, the brands teased us with nothing more than an image of a Prada shopping bag with two Adidas shoe boxes peeking out to announce the Prada For Adidas capsule. They later confirmed that two new limited-edition sneakers for men and women will debut. Reflecting the best of both parties, the styles will reference each of the brands’ iconography, enhanced with the sports-centric innovation of Adidas and made by Prada in Italy.

With sport at the center of the partnership, Prada and Adidas will also release the Luna Rossa performance sailing footwear in 2020. It’s a nod to Prada’s Luna Rossa Challenge boat and sailing team, which have represented the luxury label in the America’s Cup.

This new designer collab marks another intersection between the athletic company and high fashion. Previous collaborators include Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Alexander Wang, and Stella McCartney, among others. As streetwear continues to prevail as a driving force for consumers, especially when partnered with a luxury edge (the Supreme X Louis Vuitton collection, for example), it’s drops like these that keep the hype going.

The Prada For Adidas collection will be available to shop online and in select Prada stores from December 4, 2019.
