The fashion industry is on a sustainability kick, with fur falling out of style and brands paying more attention to the ethical impact of their materials and processes. Loewe is now getting on board with a limited edition version of its popular Elephant Mini Bag in collaboration with Knot on my Planet, with proceeds supporting the Elephant Crisis Fund.

In contrast to the elephant bag’s often bright shades, the new capsule will come only in tan. The neutral choice highlights the intricate, colorful beading on each piece, which Loewe accomplished by collaborating with women from the Samburu Workshop in Kenya. The women connect to the project in multiple ways, as in addition to the handcrafted details, they have a history of working with elephant conservationists.

Doutzen Kroes stars in the campaign, posing with the special bag in a rocky Kenya setting. As the global ambassador of Knot on my Planet, she helps Loewe to make a strong statement against poaching, trafficking, and the demand for ivory. Photos and video also show the endangered creature and the Samburu women, serving as reminders of the good this stylish elephant will do for its real-life counterpart.

With the launch of this new collection, Loewe’s elephant bags are no longer just cute: They can make a meaningful impact for the endangered creatures they resemble.

Loewe x Knot on my Planet’s limited edition Elephant Mini Bag is available online and at Bergdorf Goodman.
