Karl Lagerfeld’s Iconic Life in Photos

START

German icon Karl Lagerfeld brought years of creativity and innovation to the brands he led, and went to extraordinary lengths to continue Gabrielle Chanel’s vision. The former Chanel Creative Director passed away in Paris a two years ago today, at the age of 85, and his presence is still greatly missed by the fashion world. He expertly managed to change the old-school image of the house of Chanel while introducing branded everyday items to the line, in addition to being responsible for some of Chanel’s most iconic runway moments. At the helm of Chanel since 1983 and Fendi since 1965, Lagerfeld was a sartorial polyglot, able to design for the various brands, including his eponymous line, that he led. Lagerfeld also revamped the image of Chloé, which he led for over 10 years, by introducing tongue-in-cheek designs and its most famous model, Pat Cleveland. In honor of his memory and passing, CR has collected photos from some of the best moments throughout his life.
