In the much-anticipated co-illustration of Prada’s Milan this season, Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada tapped empathy as the ultimate guiding narrative. “It’s a feelings thing,” they offered in a post-show press conference. Appropriately titled “Possible Feelings,” the show was a moment of oblique intimacy and nuanced frisson added to a runway otherwise cloaked in dark and near-dark hues. There were jacquard-lined, outsized re-nylon coats, twilled, teddy and boucle outerwear. Yet, in rolled-sleeves, high collars, and indulgent layers, Fall/Winter 2021 was built on the back of Prada-inflected long johns – underwear reimagined in seductive, errant shapes.

“It can look romantic, sexy, playful or childlike,” Miuccia shared. The delicacy is intentional, it’s that room left for interpretation that gives the collection legs. Ambled through the fur-lined, sapphire and marble pallet of Rem Koolhaas and AMO’s build, each knitted, jacquard ballad became something utterly new, balanced on the laced aesthetics of both Miuccia and Raf. For the duo’s second co-collaboration, it was Prada through a different lens, a fresh riff on house codes reimagining them in 42 irresistible new looks.
